BOTOX® Cosmetic
BOTOX® Cosmetic is commonly used to reduce or eliminate the appearance of facial wrinkles, especially frown lines between the eyes (glabellar lines) and smile lines (crow’s feet). It’s injected under the skin into the muscle in areas surrounding the eyes and forehead to reduce crow's feet, frown lines, and worry lines. Made from a purified protein, BOTOX® relaxes wrinkles and gives the face a rejuvenated look.
Juvéderm® Injectable Gel
Touted as the "next generation" of facial fillers, Juvéderm® injectable gels gently smooth wrinkles and folds around the mouth and nose and restore a youthful volume to the face. Made with hyaluronic acid, Juvederm® works with your own collagen and elastin to provide volume and support to the skin.
Juvéderm® is especially effective around the mouth on the nasolabial folds (deep creases between cheeks and upper lip) and marionette lines (deep creases from the corner of your mouth down towards your jawline). It also adds fullness around the cheekbone prominence, although its sister product, Voluma®, is more often used in this area. Treatment takes only 30-60 minutes, depending upon the areas injected, with immediate results and little downtime. Results typically last about six to 12 months, and sometimes over one year.
Juvéderm® Voluma™
Juvéderm® Voluma™ is a new, FDA-approved dermal filler formulated specifically to add volume to the face around the cheeks, cheekbone prominence, and chin. This is the only injectable gel created to provide a subtle, natural enhancement to the mid-face. It addresses changes in definition and volume that occur with aging, including loss of bone structure (not just soft tissue structure).
Because Juvéderm Voluma is thicker than plain Juvederm®, it can help restore more youthful contours to structurally more complicated areas. It plumps up those areas that so often lose volume as part of the aging process. It can also return a firmer shape to the jawline when some laxity has set in.

Frequently Asked Questions
How Often Should I Visit a Medical Spa for Maintenance Treatments?
The frequency of visits really depends on the specific treatments you’re getting and your personal skincare needs. Generally, BOTOX® treatments might need visits every three to six months to maintain smooth, wrinkle-free skin. Juvéderm® Injectable Gel and Juvéderm® Voluma™ treatments typically require maintenance every six to 12 months. It’s best to chat with Dr. Bershof to create a plan that works for you.
Can I Combine Multiple Treatments in One Visit?
Absolutely! Combining multiple treatments in one visit is often possible and can save you time. For example, you can pair a BOTOX® session with Juvéderm® Injectable Gel to smooth wrinkles and add volume around the mouth and nose, or combine BOTOX® with Juvéderm® Voluma™ to enhance the cheeks and mid-face. Your provider will help figure out which combinations would meet your needs.
What Is the Difference Between a Medical Spa and a Dermatologist's Office?
A medical spa blends traditional spa services with medically supervised treatments in a relaxing setting. On the other hand, a dermatologist’s office focuses on diagnosing and treating medical skin conditions. While both may offer similar services, the main difference lies in the approach and atmosphere, with medical spas emphasizing aesthetic enhancements and relaxation.
How Do I Prepare for a Medical Spa Treatment?
Preparation for a medical spa treatment depends on what you’re having done. Generally, you should avoid sun exposure, certain medications, and skincare products that could irritate your skin a few days before your appointment. Your provider will give you specific instructions for your treatments.
How Can I Maintain the Results of My Medical Spa Treatments at Home?
To keep the results of your medical spa treatments looking great, stick to a consistent skincare routine using medical-grade products recommended by your provider. Protect your skin from sun damage with daily sunscreen, stay hydrated, and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Regular follow-up treatments and consultations can also help keep your skin looking its best over time.
